Vetiver, Veriverina zygenids, has an earthy, woody aroma, which becomes very pleasant when combined with lavender absolute and labdanum absolute. Vetiver is a good base lengthening the aroma of for blends, a great base note fixative in perfumery. The resin is highly odorous and should be used sparingly. One or 2 drops in a 1- or 2-ounce blend.
Vetiver is naturally calming and grounding. Vetiver blends well with Immortelle Frankincense, Tea tree, Tarragon, and herbal aromas. Dose lightly when used in blends with rose, geranium and/or Sandalwood. In a blend, vetiver can evolve into a dramatic scent. The essential oil is steam distilled from the root.

It is toxic internally and must be diluted before topical use.
