How to make a unique aroma blend

Our old roses are in full bloom! In aromatherapy, roses carry the heart or middle note, which carries the greatest potential of a blend. The low and high notes chosen for the blend releases and entirely unique fragrance, lifting in harmonious layers of scent. It can be worn for fragrance alone or also used to nourish and beautify the skin.

Fill a 1-ounce glass amber bottle with a tight-fitting cap. Choose a carrier oil, such as sweet almond, marula or red raspberry oil. For rose blends, consider using a mild low note to extend the blend. Frankincense helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and regenerates skin. Mysore Sandalwood is anti-inflammatory, soothing redness and acne prone skin. Ylang can be used as a low or high note. As a low note, it helps skin elasticity.

Always add the low note first in every blend. A general amount is 6 drops in a 1-ounce bottle. a blend of 2 or 3 low notes many be used. Keep the amount to 6 drops.

Next add 15 drops of rose or a combination of heart notes. Rose blends well with Jasmine, Gardenia and Rose Geranium. a spicier blend will have 2 drops of Cinnamon and /or Cardamom. Black Spruce adds a light woody aroma and is beneficial for bone integrity.

Lavender also blends well with rose. Provence lavender is the best choice. Add 3-4 drops, 1 drop at a time to support but not overwhelm the rose. A combination of heart notes will reduce the amount of rose oil to use.

The last essential oils added are high note, creating an alluring effect for the blend. High notes are the first scent noticed in a blend. Add 9 drops total. Citrus and black pepper blend well with rose. Neroli is the most fragrant, lifting the person from sad or anxious feelings. Bergamot is less expensive. Use the Bergapten free bergamot to avoid sun sensitivity for the skin. Ylang extra is a great choice, if not used as a low note.

Store the tightly capped blend in a cool dark place for 10 days, up to 30 days for the blend to completely become unique. Do not refrigerate.

This blend can also help hormone balance and soothe arthritic and muscle discomfort.

It should be your first choice for a romantic invitation. Be sure to wear a few drops on the neck and wrist.
